Honorable Mention A Few Things I Know Somewhat M. Kathryn Black A Few Things I Know Somewhat What I don't know could fit in more than a countless books, and the things I know I don't know very well... but I know a little about the movement of leaves, the way errant air makes them flutter, showing their underside so that when a headlight beam catches them they look like silver rattling in the wind. And I know how when a cat sleeps she's still moving; her ear goes up, her cheek twitches. She opens and closes her eyes and the snake of her spine coils head to tail. In sunlight the nimbus of her fur is as a breeze in a meadow. I know somewhat of loneliness. I've wanted to talk of things that sit like stones in my heart and there was nobody, no one anywhere. All there was was the Unseen, like round, fragrant apples, and it was to that One I talked.
